Narrow the Scope

Do you ever find that if you are given a narrow scope for a sewing project, that you can branch out and be quite creative? But the opposite is true for me. If the scope is too broad I really struggle to find much in the way of creativity. Why is that?

The Wombats agreed to make eachother Artist Trading Cards. The brief was broad. I struggled for most of July to even start.

I blogged last time on WiP Wednesday that I was working through some of the likes and dsilikes of the 8 other Wombat girls. I started sewing. I finished 3 out of the 8 fronts.

Today I finished the other 5 and even added 1 more for myself.

I still have to finalise the size and execute how I will finish them off.

Linking up to WiP Wednesday.

  1. Hi Fiona, I'm dropping by from Freshly Pieced. I would have to agree with you, I more frazzled the broader the scope! But it looks like you're well on your way.

  4. Oh Fiona, I feel bad! Next time I suggest a project I'll give more details, or maybe you can suggest some :) I'm generally a vague person and work best (and am happiest) when people give me as few directions as possible :) Try and have fun xx

  5. I'm in engineering (in my other life) ... I live by straight lines and rules and get really uneasy if someone says "just do anything!" - eek!

  6. I find whether the scope is narrow or broad I find a way to be creative - but I find myself getting bored if the scope is too narrow. I understand why people are specific particularly with Bees but I love the freedom to just create within some general guidelines.
