Sunday Stash #66

After the give away weeks of May I can finally show some new items in my stash. The first Sunday of the month, my Local Quilt Store, Rainbow Patchwork is open for folks to come along and sew whatever project they are working on.

Last month I took along my Dr Seuss panels to work on. I needed some solids to supplement all of the prints. I did not have any suitable yellow, red and aqua.

Store owner Karen and I had fun choosing some groovy green prints as well. And there were some polkadots in the remnant basket. Rotary blades, new scissors and unpick never go astray.

So what about you? What's new in your stash this week. Link up below and see what other folks have added to theirs.

Sunday Stash #35

Solids
During the Practically Paper Piecing Blog Hop in August I was randomly picked to win a $20 voucher from Pink Chalk Fabrics. That about covers the postage to Australia. So I chose a starter pack of 16 fat quarters of solids. I don't have many solids in my stash.

Surprise

In the past 3 weeks I have got surprise squishy mail from two of my blog buddies.
First Kristy sent me some fat eighths of 'Bella' by Lotta Jansdotter. For no other reason than she knew that Marieka and I loved them and so she split a Fat 8th pack between us. So kind.

Scraps

Then Lara sent me a FQ of Castle Peeps and some random scraps. I have used a few of the scraps in some polaroid blocks for myself. And Fran loves them.

Isn't it amazing what a little scrap love will do to brighten a quilter's day?  Let me know if you've been on the receiving or giving end of some RASK. (You MUST share Elnora - you have lovely friends who do this for you!).

Random Acts of Scrap Kindness (RASK).

I think it should be a new initiative for us all. Today, if you link your stash, two of you will be in the running for some RASK squishy mail from me. Please make sure that you pop me an email with your address to findingfifth@gmail.com.

I will NOT let you know if you are the winners - it will just turn up in your mail box and you can share on a future Sunday Stash. Then it will be YOUR turn to pay it forward and send two people you know some RASK and have them blog about it for Sunday Stash.  Hopefully it will multiply and bring happiness to lots of folks.

Next week, on October 21st, Sunday Stash will be hosted by Gemma of Pretty Bobbins  (whom I am to meet face to face in about 2 weeks - yay!) so please remember to pop over there next Sunday. She assures me that she has a great stash lined up and a BIG finish for this Friday.

Feel free to link up below.

Sunday Stash #27

Spot the Solid

This month I have a couple of projects that involve using solids.

Laura from Quokka Quilts has requested a Piet Mondrian style block for our QCA Bee. I am up for the challenge as I have always admired the simplicity of his designs.

So I needed red, yellow, royal blue, black and white. Step in Kristy, from Quiet Play - who not only designed a paper pieced block for herself, two others and me - but also popped an envelope of scraps of these solids into the post for me nearly 2 weeks ago.

Alas they have not arrived. Cranky at Australia Post we are.

But then Kristy also had to go and make the most enviable Lego border, for her son's Lego quilt, in the same solids with an added green. And my kids love Lego too. That did it!

With 30% off storewide at Spotlight on Tuesday I went in and bought a few flat fat solids. (I had to slip that Argyle sock print in as well).

And some fabric to make a Darth Vader cape for Australian Bookweek Parade this Friday.

So what is new in your stash this week? Feel free to link up below.

Easter Sunday Stash #8

I don't ever remember going to the shops on any Easter Saturday but yesterday I did just that! The buzz from the Quilt Club Australia online group was that Spotlight (largest retail chain 0f craft supplies) was offering 40% off all fabric until Tuesday. Nothing like a good SALE to get sewists out on a long weekend.
L-R Black denim, reverse dot in grey, Reverse dot in red, stripes by Paper Dolls, Denyse Schmidt
Precut flat fats (50x52cm) in various colours for only $1.50 each
Iron on flower patches, watch, magnetic bag clasp, other bag hooks

Lounge Room Floor

Spotlight also had 70% off their floor rugs. So I snapped up this one reduced from $129 to $38!
It wasn't too crowded at my local store but they were not terribly efficient at the fabric cutting counter. Early on there were only 3 staff cutting and two lines about 12 deep. I probably waited 30 mins to be served but I met a nice lady from Edinburgh and had a wee chat.

It was hard work standing there holding bolts of fabric though and I thought that a staff member should get trolleys for some of the older women forced to wait with lots of fabric. One of the girls from QCA, who works at SL in Western Australia, said that her boss was going around handing out easter eggs to those in line. Mmm that would have been nice!

Easter Sunday

The one day of the year where you get to eat chocolate for breakfast. It started early at 5:30 this morning as the kids were out camping in the backyard with their dad.

Hope you are having a lovely Easter  Sunday. Me? I am staying in my pjs as long as possible!
