I've hit a bit of a wall this past week not knowing what project to do. I feel a bit lost finding a design for the Dr Seuss 'Cat in the Hat' and 'Lorax' panels that I bought more than a year ago. I know that my boys are growing fast and will probably NOT want these as quilts very soon so the time frame is short to get them done.
I have been trawling through Pinterest for inspiration and I found a couple of really clever layouts for the panels but am still undecided on how I should proceed.
And it's Easter THIS weekend so I 'd better hop to and get my two remaining blocks done before my sister and brother-in-law and my two nephews come to stay for 4 days.
This Week's Sewing Stats

I saw a few of these pins coming up on Pinterest - there are so many clever ideas out there:)
ReplyDeleteOh hopefully just the right idea will come to you and there'll be nothing stopping you getting it done!
ReplyDeleteLayouting can be such a pain. Rooting for you!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with these! I have some yardage of Dr Seuss fabrics on my shelves, that I have made clothes, hats and bags out of - but would love to make a quilt for someone too. Don't know who - but someone lol.
ReplyDeleteOh I know exactly what you are talking about. I have FQ bundles of Dr Seuss fabric and I just can't decide what layout either. I was thinking of cutting the panels and just making different size random blocks. Then laying them out and filling the space with perhaps a tone on tone fabric.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I hit a slump I work on a different small project. By leaving the project that has me stumped, sometimes new ideas will come to me. I am sure you will come up with the perfect layout! Happy Wednesday!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm..that is a tricky one! Maybe just add borders to each one and piece them all together. I know not much help;)
ReplyDeleteHow about using them in a 'Once upon a time' quilt like Jess made over at The Elven Garden? It would be fun tracing the story through the quilt.
ReplyDeleteSometimes those "slumps" are just the breather your mind needs to be inspired Besides, if we quilter were project frenzied all the time our houses would be buried in clutter and dust and our families would starve. As to your Dr Seuss panel I can identify with being stymied. I have a Grinch quilt in a similar state. I did wonky borders and now need to join them. You can take a peek at my blog entries for it in December 2011 at
