Hard to believe that this little blog started a year ago. I kicked it off with 2 give-aways - one for each of my Facebook Business pages Florrie & Stan and Grandma Macs Quilts. And can you believe that this Kaffe Fasset charm pack is still to be given away? Grandma Macs still needs 59 more likers before reaching 500 and you can enter this giveaway through this post from 1 year ago.
A New Give-Away
Now to celebrate this 1 year milestone I am also giving away 2 great prizes - 1 layer cake and 1 charm pack of Aneela Hooey's 'Sew Stitchy'. These are pre-releases from Quilt Jane's Want it, Need it, Quilt! online store. Check out the designs below.
All you need to do to enter is tell me what you would make with either a charm pack or layer cake of this sweet new line. It may be a specific pattern for a bag, quilt, item of clothing etc. Just make sure that you have some contact email attached to your comment. Open to international readers too. Entries close next Tuesday 26th June at 9:30pm AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time). The 2 winners will be announced next Wednesday here on Finding Fifth.
WiP Wednesday 20th June
After last week's huge week of Zakka WiPs I am taking a slight break. My daughter Frances is VERY opinionated about what she will and will not wear. This winter Pinafores are OUT. Skirts and long sleeved tops and tights (with little ballet flats) are IN!
Unfortunately she only has 2 corduroy skirts. One gorgeous reversible one from my sister/friend DeDe of Kookabubble and another claret one from an op-shop. So I pulled out my trusty copy of 'Making Children's Clothes' and found an easy-peasy pattern made with just 3 rectangles of WOF (width of fabric) of fabric and a pocket piece.
I am still in the process of putting the pockets on the two versions.
This week's stats:
Completed projects - Zakka Messenger Bag
- Zakka Zip Organiser
- Zakka Tweed Pouch
Currently in progress - 2 Corduroy skirts
- Zakka Happy Handwarmers
- mug rug (extra sweetener for my secret swap partner).
Yet to start - QCA Bee June block for Kate
- Craftsy BOMs
- I-Spy blocks and backing for Kristy and the 'Quilting for a Cause' Zakka Rainbow Block quilt.

On Hold projects 1 - Katie Jump Kites - top finished
How are you going with your WiPs this week? I am linking up with...
Happy anniversary!! I literally just saw these beautiful zippered pouches in a shop in a pattern that looked like it was a quilt, sorta like Quilt Blocks, but passed thinking I should just make my own for my sewing supplies from something sewing-themed, and if I won this, I could!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! I would make something quilty and patchworky....I can never decide on a pattern until the last minute!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the one year. Time is certainly flying by this last year, so many things and people I have seen saying that it all started a year ago...
ReplyDeletethose fabrics are beautiful and if I was luck enough to win one I think it is screaming a bright comfy quilt for me to use to snuggle on the couch with and be brought back to a happy place.
Wishing you many more years to come.

Happy Anniversary, ohh I'd love the layer cake, I'd make myself a lovely snuggly quilt for my patchwork room hand stitching chair, it really needs something and I could sit in it, handstitching hexagons...lol. I adore this fabric and think it's one of those *gotta have's*
ReplyDeleteYay.. Congrats on your 'creation day' I would use these delightful fabrics to make a baby quilt for my lovely cousin. The fabrics just look so lovely light and happy! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWell done on reaching one year! I admire you for being such an active blogger :) And of course I admire your beautiful creations! I have been admiring sew stitchy and would be so excited to win either the layer cake or charm pack. I think I would have to sew something for me :) A sewing machine cover and sewing caddy/sewing kit. I love the idea of sewing related prints :) Congratulations again!
ReplyDeleteOh, I just love this collection from Aneela. Might have to visit Jane and spend some money. I'm considering re-covering my sewing chair in patchwork and this would be the perfect collection for that!
ReplyDeleteI really love Aneela Hoey. This is such a cute collection. I would like to make a bag to carry my sewing projects. This fabric would be so perfect.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blogiversary! Thank goodness for bonding over blogging and quilting ;)
ReplyDeleteFab giveaway - love this fabric line! :)
Congrats! Tanks for sharing with us. I see a hexi quilt in my future with these lovelies!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I would try this one http://www.mommybydaycrafterbynight.com/2012/05/salt-air-lattice-quilt.html out of layer cake.
ReplyDeleteHappy blogiversary!! Those colors are so bright and we're in the opposite season. I think I'd patchwork up a girly skirt for summer, or actually, a lightweight bag for me to carry my projects around in!
ReplyDeleteThat is such beautiful fabric and I'm great at creating new projects so I could definitely put it to good use. Or I could makenew petals for my on-going hexie flower projects or I really want to start a "plus quilt" and of course I'm still working on starting my "Postage Stamp Quilt" and..., well I would definitely put it to good use. Thanks for the opportunity.
ReplyDeletehehehe
DeleteI would make a patchwork pouch!:)

ReplyDeleteI'd love to make the travel kit from Zakka for me out of the charms. The layer cake would go into something quilty.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!
ReplyDeleteI would use Aneela's adorable fabric to make a picnic quilt!
Happy Anniversary! I'd use it in a quilt!
ReplyDeleteWoo Congratulations! I'd hoard the fabric for a few months, then look through my stash realise I still have it and put it back.
ReplyDeleteInteresting looking skirt there =D
I would love to use this to make a sewing machine cover.
ReplyDeleteAnd happy blogiversay too:)
DeleteCongratulations! I am collecting charms to make a large scrap quilt and these would definitely look good with them. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on 1 year!! I adore Aneela's new line and think it would be perfect for making a new sewing machine cover with hexys and a matching zipper travel case to take all of my quilting notions to craft meetings!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your blogoversary! I would make a bag. I desperately need a new bag and these fabrics would look lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary! I love to win the beautiful fabrics for making below quilt.
ReplyDeleteI have this quilt on my to do list. - http://blueelephantstitches.blogspot.com/2012/01/granny-square-quilt-block-tutorial.html
Congratulations and Happy Blogiversary! Such pretty fabric. I'd make a cot quilt for my little granddaughter.
ReplyDeleteI've been meaning to make a sewing machine cover for ages... bought the pattern and everything! Now I've got a new embroidery machine too, so I'd better get stitching, eh? Some "Sew Stitchy" would clearly be a great choice ;)
ReplyDeleteI need to make one too! And this fabric would be so appropriate eh?
DeleteYea Blog. I wont hit my 6 month for a few more weeks. As for what I would make. I am all about quilting and would make me yet another quilt.

P.S. I liked your Facebook one so its one closer.
Thanks Richard...it seems like you have been blogging longer than 5 months+.
DeleteHappy Blogiversary! Here's to many more happy years of blogging :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful giveaway. If I were lucky enough to win, I'd make something sewing related... a sewing kit or a sewing machine cover with it.
Congratulations! I think I'd make a storage bag for my hand sewing projects. Hand sewing is something that I've got into fairly recently and I'd love to have it all in one place and on the go. Thanks for the chance. x
ReplyDeleteCongrats! Like several other commenters this seems the perfect fabric for a sewing machine cover and maybe also a pin cushion and thread catcher. Thanks for such a great give away.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the anniversary. Good for you! I love disappearing 9-patch stars and that's what I'd do if I won. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! To be honest, I'm not sure what I would make with the fabric. But I have been wanting to make table runners for my bedroom dressers, so maybe this would be the fabric for that project.
ReplyDeleteI love fashion opinionated kids. I raised three of them and they sure make life interesting!
ReplyDeleteAs for the giveaway, I've never worked with a layer cake so I'd have to look into a pattern that would make the most of them both. But I definitely see a girl's quilt. Maybe a teen quilt.... I'll have to fondle it before I decide! LOL!
