Also Jess, from the Elven Garden, is having a fabric giveaway until next Wednesday 11/4 night.

Zig Zag Tote
I guess I should have read the material requirements in advance because I was going to start this today but realised I did not have linen, fusible batting, fusible interfacing or a magnetic clip.
Zakka Sew-Along
Although the blog along at Sew Fantastic gives some good tips, I was kind of hoping that it would have step by step visuals of how to put the tote together. So now I have to read through the pattern and interpret it...not my strongest forte.
Diamond in a Square Block #2
After failing to even start the tote, I switched to making the 2nd block for Kristy at the QCA April Bee. Easy peasy right? Wrong! So wrong! It was all going so well until the very last step where I sewed the 2 halves of the block together. The centre white square was OUT by 1/4 inch either side and was really obviously so!
I have tried to work out where I went wrong with the pattern but it still has me baffled. I even had the tutorial writer, Kristy, online troubleshooting with me. Finally I had to abandon my 3rd block in frustration and also to pick up Duncan early from the school sick bay.
I have not bought my tote supplies yet because I hear rumour that a retail craft store is having a big sale over the Easter weekend.
This week's stats:
Completed projects - 2 small zip pouches
Completed projects - 2 small zip pouches
1 - QCA April Bee block
Currently in progress - 'HR Far Far Away 2&3 Fussy Fairytales' quilt to piece a back for
New projects - 1 zig zag tote (Zakka Sew-Along) - need to buy supplies this Easter weekend
How did you go mid week with your WiPs?
So, sorry it has been a frustrating couple of days with your sewing. I know how it feels to be raring to go with starting a project, only to realize you can't.
ReplyDeleteNo advice on your diamond in the square blocks, just commiseration and hopes that things will be back to normal with the 3rd block.
Aw thanks Simone. Going to pop over and see what you have been up to.
DeleteSo sorry it was a frustrating Wednesday instead of a WIP Wed! I feel terrible! If I ever participate in a bee, remind me to choose a better block!
ReplyDeleteHad a thought about yours - maybe try ironing the seams open when you join the squares together. I tried it on my XOXO quilt and was surprised at the difference it made to some of my triangles.
You don't need to keep apologising...it's an amazing block really! Just wish I could make each one the same.
